The Owner’s Set by Japanese-made Global is the best value-for-money knife kit I’ve encountered in a while. Sure, Wusthoff and Henckel are the still the marquis names in the knife racket, but they’ve got something of an old-guard feel to them (and they’re heavy as all hell!). Barring your ascent to the peaks of Chefdom, the much lighter, sleeker 13-piece Global set includes practically every piece you’ll need, in addition to both a sharpening rod and a whet stone for, you know, even better sharpening. At a little over eight bills the price may seem steep, but you’ll never need to buy another set again.

You've all got scissors, I'm sure, but what about some five-bladed scissors?! Didn't think so. These dandies are designed for maximum speed and ease when chopping and mincing herbs which, as we all know, can pose more problems than anticipated. Rubber handles and stainless steel blades mean the Herb Snips are both comfortable and dishwasher safe. Pick up a pair - you won't be disappointed.

Though more famous for their world-class cars, Peugeot got their start in the field of pepper-milling (if you can believe it) and produce to this day the finest, most highly-regarded mills around. The Paris Classic Black 9” model is both sleek and sturdy, has an adjustable grind setting, and, like all Peugeot products, comes with a lifetime warranty. Fresh pepper never looked so good.

The Die Cast Hemisphere blender from Breville looks cute, but don’t let that fool you. With 3 different settings and Bowl/Blade system technology, the Hemisphere is adept at pureeing, crushing, and blending whatever it is you might wish to toss in there (within the bounds of reason, of course…). Food & Wine magazine voted it Best Blender in their March ’08 kitchen issue.

This aesthetically styled knife stand from Eva Solo can hold 40 knives and other kitchen related tools. The housing is made of aluminum and holds four accordion like plastic partitions. This means you can insert partitions as needed and provides space for other large items that you may want to store in the aluminum housing. The plastic partitions can be easily cleaned for improved sanitation. Another gem for your kitchen.

I never thought a bread box could look so cool. It does what you would expect but stylishly. The box allows your bread to slowly release moisture thus extending the life of your perishable food. It comes in stainless steel or black flexible plastic cover. I prefer the stainless steel version but both look great. [$173 and $164 for stainless steel or plastic version, respectively]

If you are the kind of guy that likes to show off your knives, this is for you. Another superb Eva Solo product, knife magnets. The magnets are oversized and encased in stainless steel with non-slip rubber fronts. The magnets are very strong and will pull forcefully onto metallic surfaces.
