I just put Burberry's The Beat for men on my WishList. I wear Burberry Touch and I am a huge fan. According to Burberry, the cologne emits a woody scent with mixtures of leatherwood, vetiver, fragrant black pepper and violet leaves. I'm familiar with a few of those scents so I imagine this would be a comparatively strong scent to Touch but very suitable for the fall and winter season.

I discovered this little gem at the Jameson tour in Dublin; they gave samples of all the famous Irish whiskey and Paddy was by far the smoothest. The nose is fresh and lively, the taste is mild, soft, and mellow, and the finish has a gently fading sweetness. The best part: the bottle is a very reasonable $25 - $35, which is not bad for how nice it tastes. The only tough part is finding it.

If ever in Calgary, Alberta (I don’t know why you would be there unless you like the Rodeo), be sure to check out gourmet hotdog stand, Tubby Dog on 17th Ave. A jewel of the Red Mile, this hip joint has every type of topping you could wish for, from peanut butter and jelly to the famous Sherm’s Ultimate Gripper, a bacon-wrapped, deep-fried dog served with ham, egg, and nacho cheese on top. They also have DJs, serve drinks, and are open till 3 or 4 a.m., depending on the night. Check it out on a Friday night and you won’t be disappointed.
